Cotopaxi is one of Ecuadors most
impressive natural occurrences. Towering at 5880m this Andean
volcano’s crater is a spectacular 800metres in diameter found
at the top of a brilliantly reflective snowcapped peak.
It is surrounded for miles by its own phenomenal
creation; massive gray canyons carved by eruptions that
happened many millions of years ago, in which still remain a
scattering of lava rock.
These historical eruptions
have created lands of such fertility they are amongst the many
bio-diverse ecosystems in this beautiful country. These facts
and many other influences have made Cotopaxi an
internationally admired volcano.
For three years we
have laboured to recover the original route, Cara Sur (south face), to the crater of Cotopaxi and share its
marvelous surroundings with just a fortunate few.
We´ve built our adobe cabañas at 4000m,
where we offer our hospitality in a comfortable and friendly
environment in which experienced climbers and adventurers
alike can acclimatize and relax. These cabañas are built in
traditional Andean style and therefore they blend in perfectly
to the surroundings. In one of the cabañas there is a communal
area and kitchen with panoramic windows which offer you a
stunning view over the impressive canyons and the surrounding
volcanoes such as the Chimborazo 6310m, Illinizas 5266m, Tungurahua 5016m, Altar 5319m and the Sangay 5230m.
In further cabañas
you find sleeping accommodations consisting of several
comfortable bunkbeds and a fireplace. After a delicious,
typically Ecuadorian meal you will gather around the warming
fireplace to talk about the adventures of the day.
Currently we are constructing a sauna with cold and
hot water showers. You can also get a relaxing massage there,
after an enduring day from hiking or climbing.
At 4780m we have our fixed base camp, which offers
our clients a second level of acclimatization before making
the final trek to the crater of the impressive Cotopaxi.
Our tours offer you the opportunity
to trek, admire and breath a barely touched landscape with its
magnificent views of the Andean mountain range and its
astonishing environment.
We hope to share this unique
experience with you, one which we promise you will never
forget.
